Granite CFO resigns, interim CFO appointed
Equipment World (May 25, 2010) - Granite Construction Incorporated announced today that Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) LeAnne M. Stewart is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. Vice President and Corporate Controller Laurel J. Krzeminski has been appointed interim CFO. The transition is effective June 1, 2010.

Felix Chavez & Son 2010 named Contractor of the Year
Equipment World (March 5, 2010) - Ryan Chavez, owner of Felix Chavez & Son Construction, based in Weston, Colorado, won the 11th annual Contractor of the Year award sponsored by construction equipment manufacturer Caterpillar Inc. and leading national trade magazine Equipment World during a recent ceremony at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.

Smart Manufacturing Smart Grid Can Save $6 Billion Annually: Report
Smart Grid (August 17, 2009) - Rockwell Automation reportedly announced that smart, safe and sustainable manufacturing solutions for the ongoing smart grid boom could help companies save up to $6 billion a year, or about 10 percent of the total U.S. industrial electrical energy costs, and claims that it has developed precisely such a portfolio.

CIPP under the Baltic Sea
Trenchless International (October 2009) - Water from the Baltic Sea was leaking into the broken sewerage networks of the city of Norrköping, Sweden – with expensive sewer pumps working 24 hours a day. CIPP came to the rescue.

CIPP - a cure for damaged pipes
Trenchless International (October 2009) - Cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) systems create a close-fit ‘pipe-within-a-pipe’. A variety of CIPP systems are available, the common feature being the use of a fabric tube impregnated with resin. The tube is inserted into the existing pipeline and inflated against the pipe wall, then cured most commonly at ambient temperature, by re-circulating hot water, steam or ultra-violet light.

Most Americans support energy infrastructure overhaul
ZDNet (August 16, 2009) - A new survey that was conducted jointly by PR firm Burson-Marsteller and research firm Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates finds that seven out of every 10 Americans supports government initiatives to improve the energy infrastructure and develop alternative energy sources.

Canal in NY to be improved by microtunnelling
Trenchless International (August 10, 2009) - The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) is proposing an upgrade to the Gowanus Facilities – using microtunnelling in a section of the project – located on the head of the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn.
